Food Navigator Recipe Line Up!

We partner with Marquette Alger RESA Health Education each year to offer the Food Navigator Program. This program supports shoppers using food assistance. We work to increase access to fresh, affordable food and help shoppers maximize their food dollars at the market. This program will be offered at select Saturday Morning Markets and at the weekly Wednesday Evening Market throughout the 2022 season.

Our Navigator is here to help answer questions such as:

  • What is food assistance?

  • How can I use these benefits at the market?

  • What can I purchase with benefits?

  • I’m not familiar with cooking with fresh produce, how do I do this and where do I start?

Sample tasty recipes each week!

Each week the Food Navigator Program highlights a simple, easy-to-prepare recipe with ingredients found at the market, that can be purchased with food assistance benefits. Free samples are also offered so you can taste before you shop! Here’s the upcoming schedule:

Wednesday, August 24, 4-7 PM | Melons + Cantaloupe Salsa

This week we will be spotlighting our vendors with MELONS! Stop by to learn how to make Cantaloupe Salsa. We will be doing a food demonstration and offering free recipe samples.

Saturday, August 27, 9-1 PM and Wednesday, August 31, 4-7 PM | In Season Produce + Gazpacho

This week we will spotlight the wide variety of in-season produce at the market! Stop by to learn how to make Gazpacho, a cold soup perfect for hot summer days! This recipe is a delicious way to use a variety of fresh produce from the market. We will be offering free recipe samples.
