Job Description
Position: Cashier – Downtown Marquette Farmers Market
Summary
To provide cashiering and on-site support to the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market and Market Manager during the Outdoor Saturday Morning Farmers Market. The 2023 Outdoor Saturday Morning Market runs May 20-October 28 from 9-1 PM. The Cashier would need to arrive no later than 8:30 AM and can expect to be completed with their duties by 1:30 PM. This position will be shared among two people to allow for scheduling flexibility.
This is an hourly position paid bi-weekly via check or direct deposit. The current rate is $15/hr.
Primary direction and supervision are received from the Market Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Place signage before the start of market around market plaza and collect at the end of market.
Provide customer assistance and information about the Downtown Market Farmers Market in an effective and courteous manner.
Process all purchase transactions for substitute payment forms and credit card transactions.
Maintain control of all market tokens and substitute payment forms.
Maintain control of the credit card machine.
Maintain daily transaction log of all token and credit card transactions.
Reconcile daily token and credit card transactions with token and credit card receipts with daily transaction log.
Assist with breakdown of Information Booth at the end of market.
Assist the Market Manager when requested.
Non-Essential Duties
Performs related functions as assigned.
Materials and Equipment Used
Credit card processing machine, SNAP Tokens, Double Up Food Bucks Tokens, WIC Coupons, credit cards.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of modern office procedures and practices, filing and record-keeping systems and common clerical procedures.
Human relations skills in interacting with the public.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, business owners, and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of downtown Marquette environment
Knowledge and understanding of promotions, marketing, and events
Experience with promotion, marketing, or communication Physical Demands
Lifting 60 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
Frequent standing and walking.
Frequent bending, twisting and reaching.
Occasional squatting and climbing.
Ability to communicate orally in a clear manner.
Ability to distinguish sounds at various frequencies and volumes.
Ability to distinguish people or objects at varied distances under a variety of light conditions.
Ability to withstand noise changes in the work environment.

Demonstrated ability to maintain interpersonal, customer service and oral/written communication skills with the public, downtown businesses, property owners, and DDA Staff.
Demonstrated knowledge of proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
